What's Up With Us?
Here we are, the last day of 2008. Boy, am I glad. 2008 wasn't an absolutely HORRIBLE year, but it certainly wasn't the best either. Let's see...my best friend moved, my son was in a bad car accident, and a student of mine passed away from unexpected causes all within one week in April. My nephew was born with Spina Bifida in August and remained in the hospital just about the first four months of his life, and at the same time my father-in-law was in and out of the hospital four times. We had major family drama on Thanksgiving, enough to cause us to decide to stay away from family functions anymore. On top of a very busy and stressful schedule, I am ready for a new year!!
However, with everything that has happened, Wes and I and the boys have become an even stronger family unit. It is hard to believe that Wes and I will be celebrating our 17th anniversary on Sunday, January 4th. Where has the time gone?
Cole is 17 and a junior in high school. He is currently dating a very nice young lady, Ashley, and has been since September. He finished his first year of varsity football, and is working part-time at a local grocery store. He is maintaining a 3.0 GPA, and is very proud of himself!
Angel is 10 and in 4th grade. He is quite the character with such a personality. He will be attending my school next year and is very excited about it. He participated in a local hoop shoot contest a few weeks ago and won his age group so he will move on to the next level. I will keep you updated on how he does.
Wes has been working for Glenn-Colusa Irrigation District for 15 years. At times he thinks he'd like to find another job, but then he realizes how lucky he is to have a great local job with wonderful benefits. He does quite a bit of painting on the side. I would love for him to be able to start his own business, but that is a scary thing in this day.
I am in my 6th year of teaching. This year I teach 7th and 8th grade English and Journalism. It is quite a challenge, and very time consuming, but I love it. Teaching truly is a very rewarding job.
Well, I suppose that's it for now. I'll post again soon. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
